Lean Fundamental

Lean is a methodology to "lean" your process to remove anything non-value-added actions.

8 Deadly Waste by Lean (TO WISDOM)
(Unnecessary) Transportation - Moving material more than necessary.  This is often caused by poor plant design/layout or  placement.

Over Production Producing components that are not intended for immediate use or sale
Waiting Idle time between operations or during an operation due to missing material, an unbalanced line, scheduling  mistakes, etc.

(Excess) Inventory Excess stock in the form of raw materials, Work in Process, and finished goods
(Unused) Skills Not using or underutilizing employee skills limits the corporation’s ability to compete and excel
Defects (and Spoilage) Producing defective goods or mishandling materials.  This includes the waste inherent in having to  rework parts not made correctly the first time through

Over Processing Doing more to the product than necessary. Reducing such waste often involves eliminating unnecessary  work elements

(Unnecessary) Motion Any motion that is not necessary to the successful completion of an operation.  Obvious forms of  motion include back-and-forth movement in a workstation and searching for parts or tools

3M model:
This model is used to measure whether there is instability in the whole process. Cute and hard to remember the names of each M....

Overburden & Stress (Muri)
Unevenness & Variability (Mura)
Waste (Muda)
Ideal (Stability)

5S Methodology
This one is famous:
1S Sort
2S Set in order
3S Shine
4S Standardize
5S Sustain

Trip to Hangzhou

Since GG is in a safe period now, we decided to take this chance to visit Hangzhou. Hangzhou is not far away from Shanghai, 1.5 hours using fast train. We made a 2 days trip. Sleep at also a YHA hotel, Hangzhou YHA international hotel.

The impression of Hangzhou is a leisure city, big trees, big lakes and fresh air. West lake is peace, and I could feel the long history from that. If not familiar with Chinese history, I guess people may think it is a man-made lake.

The first stop of us is Yu Qian temple. This is a big guy. Without him, Ming dynasty would finish much soon than history. No need to mention more about that history. On that day, only one another guy visit with us in that temple, seems a man from Korea. I can't understand those Chinese travelers who gathered around west lake without visiting our hero…. Time is changing.

After that, we visited several times around west lake. Government made people a fantastic place for traveling. Bars and restaurants around west lake are so good. However, when we leave west lake and into the normal area of city, I suggest we used more money on people living.

Anyway, it is our first time to Hangzhou, and we will take another visit to Hangzhou later next year again. And it is the first time for our baby to take train and visit other city besides Harbin and Shanghai. Xin.
